LoL, sorry for another contest update post, but my current hosting, LunarPages, has decided to join the fun
Oh how great that news is, especially to you, my loyal contestants.
LunarPages is a great hosting company (I’ve been with them for several years on multiple hosting accounts) and if you are one the lucky winner, you will get (the same price) of FREE domain name and 1 year of Basic hosting plan (you don’t ever have to pay for domain name renewal fee if you host it on LunarPages).
So the contest prizes are now:
- FREE Domain Name and 1 year of “Basic Plan” Hosting from Lunarpages.com
(I’ve actually already reserved this prize for a special contestant on this contest *hint*) - 1 year of FREE Domain Name and “U.S Based Starter Plan” Hosting from HightekHosting.com.au
- 1 year of FREE Domain Name and “Standard Plan” Hosting from think411.com
- 2 weeks of advertising on my blog (The 3 grand prizes make this prize kinda puny, doesn’t it
). I’ve decided to randomly pick a contestant for this prize.
This first contest has made me more confident on organizing contests. Expect more contests on my blog in the future (”What? This hasn’t even ended yet!”). I know, I know

Wow dude. Looks like a good contest too! Hehe. I have just ran my first ever contest - a simple on> The Best Definition of the word “Bloggista”. Kinda narcissistic but… it’s fun. Hope you join or, perhaps become a sponsor. Any prize will do sans EC credits.

Ok - I’ll admit that I’ve ignored the other contest postings, so now you have my attention.
Please count me in on this contest.
As far as domain name, is that a my choice name, or an already existing name that you or the hosting company already owns?
Thanks, Mike!

@Wiehanne: Yes they are
@Bloggista: Hey Roel, yeah I saw your contest earlier when I dropped my Entrecard on yours. Maybe later, I’m not on a creative mode at the moment
@Margaret and others:
The domain is of your choice for all hosting. Either a .net/.com/.org.
Omg! Michael, what do you do all day, go around companies asking for free domains?
This is just SO FANTASTIC!
The least I can do right now is buzz this article on Yahoo, (in capital letters!) and prepare another great scoop for your contest that now features not one, not two, but THREE free domain names!
Thank you thank you so much for giving three people the chance to win! Now the public will really come rushing to your blog Michael, that’s for sure! Although, if it had been me I might’ve simply waited to do another contest with one of three domains - you yourself said the contest ends pretty soon, and people would have to work pretty hard, since there’s already so much hopefuls.
Nevertheless, three domains is simply fantastic, like I said! Can you explain though more a bit on how LunarPages is better - cause you’re talking about renewals and stuff like that, making it sound as though the best prize of them all. Well, of course, it /is/ the first prize now, but still - explanation please?
Ooh, special contestant, eh? Kind of makes it seem as though it’s two domains after all that people can win, as if you’re giving away the third simply to one of your real-life friends. Nevertheless, I am intrigued… I read the LunarPages review of course and it makes me happy to think that you can make as many domain emails as you want - and all those other cool features, and the space and bandwidth… is all of that really true?
And, uh yeah, the advertising prize now doesn’t seem so fantastic as it did! So you’re right to just choose the winner randomly - another maybe not so good effect with so many domains? Of course it’s better for everyone, cause they have more chances to win - but I doubt the traffic will be going as high as it’s probably now once the contest is over.
Your blog is fantastic, but some of the people who subscribe probably only do it because of the contest requirements. My point is, if you had offered one domain this month, another domain the next month, and now the third domain the third month, your blog would continue to get a higher and higher consistent audience and when the contests would end, you’d have more loyal commenters and subscribers with than before!
Just my thoughts opinions - I don’t really want you to change anything now, since three domains for three winners really is a fantastic opportunity. (And a great twist too, since you seem to like them so much! :D)
Woah, cool! How does that work? I put this blog post on Digg, and it automatically came here! Well, in any case, I think this Digg is more important than the ones for the other two, cause users will most undoubtedly go for the “THREE free domain names being given away!” than the other two!
In any case, I came up upon this article, that says when you register with some companies, you’re not really the full owner of the domain, they are - and only websites like http://www.godaddy.com are to be trusted… so I was wondering what you think of this? The article (please read it first before replying!) is located here: http://www.connectiongraphics.com/tips/1.php.

So it’s true! OMG, you’re great! Maybe you could tell me how you do it, it’s fantastic. These hosting companies just hear about your contest and drop you some free whole year hosting plans or what???
Not bad, for sure, now it’s 3x chance!
thanks again
but Feabionsu is right, that’s kinda said some people are here only for the prizes. Personally I can’t fake it too much, so if your blog would be crap, that’s sure I would leave immediately, I don’t wanna spend my precious (:D) time reading something unvaluable.
But, luckily for me (and you) :), you really provide value here, so you gained at least a handful of loyal readers, including me.
Have a good weekend too, Michael !
P.S.: Feabionsu, get ready, I’m going to your site now, I’m really interested now what a guy like you can write about
Meh, my site is bad! Don’t visit it!
Well, it’s just… I don’t know - childish? I got bored of that book series long ago but people still visit it now and then… As you can see I started it with a blog about the latest news about that series and it stopped a while back. As for other pages, you can see there’s not that many…
Feabionsus last blog post..Another Domain Name, Another Chance
Well, yeah, it’s a little hmm..
I couldn’t really navigate on the site, and it seemed like you abandoned it in June, but hey, my fist 3 blogs are catastrophe (I abandoned them after a week or so) :D, so I shouldn’t say anything
But whether or not I win a hosting here, I’ll get a .com domain and start my new blog in September, I’ve already wrote 8 posts, so I think the secret really lies in taking in the effort or money to take it seriously, at least for me
Looking forward to see your new site
But if you get this new domain name (very likely ;)) then you can make it a really good site for sure!
I think my problem was the same with Blogspot blogs: I just can’t take it seriously if it’s free
Exactly! That’s a really good point - cause once you actually get a REAL .com domain name, whether it’s won from a contest or bought, you truly realize that it’s actually worth something more than just a Freewebs and then you realize that now that you’ve got it, you’ve got to make it into a worthy website!
But really, that’s not the only reason - I really do love Freewebs when you need to create a free and quick website. Much better than something like Piczo or Weebly. A better reason is that you really need to choose a topic that you’re passionate about - that you feel you can write about at least once a week - and obviously, the topic I chose for that website was not the best one for that. You get bored of stuff now and then, and that becomes a problem…
Another reason why some people abandon their websites is also because their website might be like a weekly newsletter or something, and the owner can’t keep up with publishing a new edition every week…
But no, I’m not continuing with that website - I’d love to, but only if I had all the time in the world and every single day of the year free for me to do whatever I wish! So no, like I already said somewhere before on this blog, I have much better plans for the domain name I /hope/ to win!
And I’m looking forward to seeing that new blog of yours too! xD
