Overwhelmed by Social Networking? Not for Digsby!

Digsby is an IM (Instant Messenger) + Any Email Notifications + Social Networking combined into one application.
If you chat and socialize to some people on the net, you must have realized by now, that not everyone is on the same network as you do.
With Digsby, however, you are guaranteed to be able to network to anyone you want, easily.
Digsby Benefits
Instant Messaging
I’m mainly on Windows Live Messenger (WLM/MSN) but somehow:
- Most of my high school friends are all in Yahoo messenger
- Some friends are very active in Facebook, but don’t turn their Instant Messengers on pretty often
- My blogger friends usually have Gmail as their contact email (hence, a Gmail Talk)
Rather than opening multiple instant messaging applications (and logging in on different platforms), I’d rather have an application that does all in one go! Digsby does that, and more.

Digsby Contact List
Email Notifications
Each one of us usually has more than just 1 email account. I have a Gmail, my own domain, Hotmail, and a Yahoo email account. Although I only have 1 primary account that I primarily use all the time, I still have to check others too occasionally.
If you are lucky, you can “auto forward” your emails on other accounts to your primary account (whatever you are using). Some email accounts don’t let you do this, unfortunately.
With Digsby, you can set up email notifications of these email accounts, saving you time from checking them one by one of any new emails.
At the moment Digsby supports: Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL/AIM Mail, IMAP, and POP accounts.
Social Networking
Stay up to date with your friends on these social networks: Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace! You can receive notifications, requests, comments, and etc all in Digsby!

Too many social networks to handle? Not for Digsby!
Conclusion
Digsby is light, easily customizable through skinning/themes, and provide an all-in-one stop for your online social networking.
I love using Digsby. It’s just that it doesn’t support the WLM custom emoticons
I know some of you don’t care about using custom emoticons, but it gives personalization to your messages and chatting can’t be more fun than that.
However, if you don’t bother with using custom emoticons (you’ll still be seeing your friends’ WLM custom emoticons in Digsby anyway), have a try at Digsby. It’s going to save you a lot of time and keeping in touch with your friends and crushes can never be easier!

No Digsby for me! I’m happy with Plurk, Gtalk and Twitter for now
Arnold, Digsby is not another social networking site/program, it’s like your WLM or Yahoo Messenger, but has built-in interactions to your Twitter, Gtalk, etc accounts, all in one application
I may look at Digsby. It looks easier to manage all the accounts that way. It is a pain to have to log into several web sites to see what has happened.

I will check out Digsby. I think the idea of being able to access several different platforms from one location is just great. It sure makes multi-tasking a lot easier…lol.

@Yan: Not yet, but you can sign up if it’s available in Mac/Linux at: http://www.digsby.com/signup/maclinux/
@Maria: I use meebo every now and then too. Meebo is good if you’re not using your own computer
I honestly don’t use Digsby much, simply because of the custom emoticon issue. Well, no other messenger except WLM has the copyright to support sending WLM custom emoticons..so yeah it sucks
Very interesting, but I’m not going to try it, since I don’t need to chat with my friends every hour and anyways, I don’t have that much social networking sites I participate it! But sounds cool!
A question: so what IS your primary email address Michael? You don’t have to actually tell us it, but what do you use for the primary one - Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or do you have a website domain email too? I personally love Gmail!
Yahoo’s okay, Hotmail sucks (my personal opinion), but Gmail’s perfect!

I have the website domain email as my primary email. Well sort of.
I don’t need to delete any emails on my inbox)
My Gmail is my primary email on the blogosphere. The reason being:
- I try to minimize spam (at least I can rely -or maybe not- on Gmail spam filter)
- I want to keep all email correspondence, especially about my blog (Gmail is the best place to do
As for my email address, I’ve just sent you an email
Try not to spam too much lol
You know how to check who’s spamming you? Well, it kind of too late now for you, since you’ve probably had Gmail running for a while now, but when you go and give out companies your email, you can go youremail+lunar@gmail.com if you’re registering with lunarpages for example.
You can put +anything and the email would still work, just like you can put y.our.ema.il@gmail.com and that would still work too. That way, when you see spam, you just click on who it’s send TO, not from, and you see the corresponding +lunar and you go “Aha! I knew that company was fishy! :D”.
Of course, it’s not like you’re going to see them, but you’ll know who to trust!
And it’s not like companies would remove the plus sign, cause they just accept the email, they don’t check through each one and probably don’t even know about the + trick themselves!
P.S. Yes, Gmail’s spam system is the best. I’ve never gotten ONE spam in my inbox, though I get thousands in my Spam Box. Well, when I was trying out different money schemes like CashCrate and SurveySpot, I knew I couldn’t trust them, so I created another Gmail especially for that - and there, LOTS of spam got into my inbox, but that’s just because they can’t be trusted - you’d be a fool to give your real email address to companies like that.
