This site is killing the Entrecard Community!
I’m sure that screenshot speaks a thousand word!
I was doing my reciprocate drop to a site and found a link to this “wonderful” site! It actually has our Entrecard widgets on there so that people can drop their cards easily in one central location!
This may sound great and useful, but it defeats the purpose of the whole Entrecard community!! We go to other members’ sites and drop our card there! We visit, read their posts, make comments, and make friends with them! Although we sometimes drop like there’s no tomorrow, still we visit and sometimes we read!
This site gets a big thumb down for me!
And if you think that “What’s the big deal?” “Why does this guy get angry for nothing?”. Well if your widget is there, you are supposed to be as mad as me! I honestly was tempted to do some dropping there, but hey, don’t be selfish! You don’t want us to drop our cards to your widget using this way too, do you?
Your opinion, guys?

I’m not a big fan of that site either. I don’t like it when people take the easy way out of earning real “money” (or EC in our cases) so I find the site despicable.

I hate this idea as well I have to admit! I am going to look if my widget is there, but even if it isn’t this site takes away the purpose of using Entrecard.
I wonder if there is anyway to get our widgets taken off? If mine is there, I may politely ask for it to be removed.

Don’t worry guys, the site now displays: “Temporary out of services! Sorry for inconvenient!”.
I and a few people left quite harsh comments earlier about the site and it seems that the site owner has realized (hopefully) his/her mistakes in putting the site up!
I totally agree with you and totally disagree with the website.. but I wonder how could the maker of the site combine so many entrecards altogether?

Interesting post. I came here from your thread in the forum. I agree that such a technique, while creative, defeats the purpose of Entrecard.

Wow, that stinks. I hadn’t seen that site for myself. When I signed up for Entrecard I admit I was just trying to increase the traffic to my blog, but now that I’ve been on here for a couple of weeks I’ll admit that I’ve really enjoyed reading some of the blogs I’ve found. It’s sad that some people are trying to circumvent the system.

I agree Michael. The site really defeats the purpose of the entire community. I have found many interesting posts while on a ‘dropping spree’ and met different people and sites like the once you mentioned just defeat the purpose…you may as well just ask for 300 credits for free. I think many members really dislike sites like that.

Not really. As you can see on my post, I didn’t put any URL there at all.
I believe the site owner didn’t mean any harm (based on reading his comments) and was trying to help out people. He/she probably just didn’t realize it until I and Margaret (from eyespi20.com) pointed it out
Not the first time something like this happened.
Just report it to phirate immediately and he will sort things out.
Graham and phirate really need to come up with a set of proper Terms of Service or Codes of Conduct for EntreCard so they can just take appropriate measures when such incidents occur.

I had never seen that site before you post about it and I agree with you that it defeats the entire concept behind Entrecard.
Probably the site’s owner just wanted to get some extra traffic for him/herself (who doesn’t?). But as Deimos said, it should be good that Graham and Phirate sharpen their terms of service.

Since Entrecard gets popular, there are a lot of users try to cheat the system. They create applications so that they can drop the cards faster. This is the main reason which makes me feel disappointed about Entrecard community. Hope Entrecard can take actions towards such websites/members, else i think more and more members will leave Entrecard soon.

There are a lot of ways, in which this is bad.
Come on, the whole purpose of entrecard is link exchange, why just drop for credits?
I feel that sites like these, and campaigns that scream “Get 300 drops a day, easy” should be shut down.
Come on, that defies the whole purpose and meaning of the entrecard site and service…
Good find, and I’m sure the widgets can be blocked from certain websites/ip’s , that ’s why they can stop people like the creator of that site.

According to Phirate in the forum, it’s pretty easy to disable the widgets, although it’ll be a quicker process if we help reporting sites like these.
Someone in the forum reported that another of exactly the same site has appeared on a different domain lol.
These people don’t quit, eh?

The site I was referring to earlier is not actually the site being reported by Michael. My bad.
The owner of the site (who is a member of our local blogging group) wrote that he actually got the idea from Michael’s post.

You can be the bad guy (or a good guy?) and let phirate knows about the site and he’ll shut it down in no time and help the Entrecard community!
They might get ec credits a lot! but still entrecard is not just for dropping only its more likely a community thats my opinion.
