In case you didn’t know, there have been activitivies around the Windows Live Messenger development team. They are preparing for the next release of Windows Live Messenger, dubbed version 9.
If you were on the WLM 9 Beta (I am), there has been no updates whatsoever for almost a year.
I thought that they must have abandoned the project. Apparently, they are still alive and kickin!
NOTE: All screenshots are taken from jcxp.net
The new window will roughly look like this: (remember, it’s still on Beta and therefore the UI and features may or may not be changed!)

Similar but not the same UI

There are also new features (besides a slight change in UI) such as:
- Favourite Contacts
- New Windows Live Groups
- More discussions and also the download link for Windows Live Messenger Beta 9 Leak here at jcxp.net
Of course, it may be unstable, so if you want to give it a try, go ahead but beware of the crashes, etc.
I’m gonna try this tonight because I’m a pure geek who loves Beta stuffs ^^

if Ms consider removing the ads from the mail system [ the inbox and the tagged footer ] then i’ll start using it .
but as for the IM it really looks like a pretty application .
Looks more or less the same to me. (I’m a noob layman)…

@Wiehanne: No problems here, except for a longer sign-in. Besides, you can always uninstall and reinstall your MSN/WLM (u won’t lose the emoticons)
@ameo: You can always go to http://apatch.org/ to remove the ads
@BetterIntCom: It’s not much different, but it’s slimmer and I definitely like the new conversation window. It’s less cluttered with junks and it’s focusing on what it should have been. The conversation!
Meh, not interested in Messenger - never used it, never will - I prefer to waste my time on Gmail chat, if any kind of chat at all.

I don’t feel there is any difference in any of the versions of msn messenger with just the exception of an additional offline tab with offline messages. Apart from this they have just changed the outlook of this messenger and really I don’t care that much about the outlook of msn messenger. I would only appreciated if there would be some exciting new features.
Well I still welcome a user interface changes, personally. It is quite bloated at the moment and would prefer using other IM applications like Digsby.
It’s just that I can’t live without the custom emoticons
