Perfect July 27, 2010 liguista celestial The product arrives in perfect condition and with very good time. All is ok. We are very happy. Lenovo gives me good thinks. I bought 3 notebooks and received them here in Costa Rica by Aerocasillas (Aeropost network). I use Lenovo since 2004.
Can't beat this deal anywhere right now! April 3, 2010 Matthew M. Newhouse (Florida) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
Love it. Everything works perfectly, quick shipping, great specs and have no problems, issues, or hiccups. I ran it through all kinds of simultaneous tech tests in the last couple days with large transfers, videos, programmng, photoshop, gaming, etc. Everything is great with no complaints.
Great laptop - except for pre-installed software April 12, 2010 Mario Sanchez Celedon (San José, Costa Rica) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I live in Costa Rica and ordered a Lenovo computer after several good recommendations from friends. I am a programmer and my main concern was CPU speed and amount of RAM memory. This computer works smooth after uninstalling all the bundled software that comes with it, including the face recognition software. The trackpad is very good, I personally like it, but I guess it is a matter of taste.
Pros
* very fast computer
* incredibly fast startup and shutdown
* good for CPU intensive apps and full screen videos
* very elegant design
* keyboard of very high quality
* glossy screen looks beautiful, with bright colors
* very thin and light for its size and price
Cons
* exaggerated amount of pre-installed software (reason why I give it a 4-star rating and not 5). After uninstalling, I recommend making backup DVDs...
It is a pity that Lenovo installs that amount of software in a computer. It should be an option, at the first time of use. Otherwise, a great computer. Highly recommend it if you don't mind spending at least 1 hour uninstalling all the crap... For my part, for $699 (bought at Amazon on Marco 2010), I like this computer very much...
CHECK YOUR SERIAL NUMBER REGISTRATION June 23, 2010 H. Park (Chicago, IL USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I recently had a technical issue with this laptop so I called Lenovo for support. After checking my serial number, they said this laptop is only meant to be sold inside China and I have to ship this to China to get it fixed, not to mention I must somehow find a way to communicate in Chinese.
Again, they said the serial number for the laptop is for the support in China only.
I got a replacement from Amazon.com and checked the serial number just in case, and voila, the s/n is still for China only support. So, people, check your s/n with Lenovo.
I'm wondering what to do with this issue now...
Otherwise, this is an excellent laptop :)
Good Choice May 6, 2010 David J. Bouchard (Chicago) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got a Lenovo for private business use on recommendation of my friend and business partner who is an IT professional and got one for his teenage daughter. I'm pleased overall - I got it through Amazon and it got here on time (paid for next day svc.) and in perfect shape. Setup as an advanced user was easy. Computer had minimal bloatware (factory installed 3rd part software you usually don't want or need) that was easy to remove - something Dell and HP sure can't manage. The bloatware bluetooth software did more harm than good but once I purged it the internet wireless works perfectly. Haven't decided to keep the face-recognition log on program. The ugly Windows 7 theme can be removed to look like older versions you're used to. My only real complaint about Win7 is that the file folders don't have a "up one level" or "back one step" buttons like XP had. Installing my own choices of 3rd party software was easy. Computer comes with free year of McAfee which I guess you can keep if you like getting viruses - I use Kaspersky, thank you very much - so I purged THAT garbage. I also purged the free trial of Office 2007 so I could install Open Office.
Over all not bad. Easy to use for noobs, easy to make usable for pros. 4/5.
