5 out of 5 stars For fans of Tetris, Bejeweled, and Bookworm.   November 18, 2007

The object of the game is simple: Match up three or more of the same colors to make them disappear. Straight up, straight down, in a line, or a group of three as in two above and one below...or one above and two below. Got it?

Chuzzles are creatures that resemble furry puff balls with eyes. They make cute little mewing noises. When you group three or more of them together, they pop. Only the eyes are left and they fly into a bottle on the side of the grid. When the bottle gets full, a stopper plugs up the top, shakes it all up like a soda, and the eyes pop up, out of the bottle just like soda shooting out.

Every now and then a fat Chuzzle falls into the grid. A fat Chuzzle takes up the space of four normal Chuzzles.

The game automatically keeps track of all trophies you win. You get a new trophy whenever you do something special. Example: pop a group of Chuzzles, more fall into the grid and happen to land in a position that pops more Chuzzles, then again, and again. Popping four groups with only one move of the mouse is one trophy. Most trophies I got without really trying. I still have not managed to play an entire game without popping a single fat Chuzzle though.

My mother has a soft heart. They thought of popping, and harming the creatures, even though they are not real, bothers her. I told her that I look at it this way: The chuzzles are hot due to too much fur. They WANT to be popped. Once free of the hot fur, they can jam at the party which is being held in the glass jar. (Hey, it worked. My mother adores the game and can't stop playing it as much as she does Bespelled.)

HERE ARE SOME FUNNY THINGS TO TRY:

If you keep rapidly clicking on the same Chuzzle, it will start looking like it is trying to hold back a sneeze. Soon, it sneezes and all its fur flies off. So now you have a bald Chuzzle with two band-aids on its forehead. Don't worry; its fur grows back about five seconds later. If you do this to a fat Chuzzle, it burps loudly instead of sneezing.

Click and hold on a Chuzzle. If you start moving your mouse in a circle the Chuzzle will complain "Uh-huh! Un-huh! Un-huh!"

Hover your mouse over one Chuzzle, let your hand go of the mouse and watch. The Chuzzle gives you irritating looks. If you continue to let the mouse sit on it, the Chuzzle will soon bat it off and away. If the cursor lands on a different Chuzzle, it will soon do the same. This continues until you move your mouse or a Chuzzle manages to knock the cursor off the grid. ;-)

There are more cute things you can do, but I'll let you figure them out as your play.

5 out of 5 stars Gonks die screaming!   July 14, 2008

Remember Circus Atari? Remember how much more entertaining it was to *not* catch the clowns in the bucket? The way their little legs would kick after they went splat on the floor? Chuzzle is a bit like that.

You're presented with a screen full of gonks -- those little pompom things with the googly eyes -- and are charged with matching three of the same color. When you do this, and it isn't difficult, they scream (oh, all right, they squeak), explode, and their lives' essences are sucked into a flask. Possibly the flask is Gonk Heaven. This is accompanied by a throbbing disco soundtrack, which you will find either amusing or enraging, and which will haunt you in your sleep.

Pros: Amusing candy-colored time-sink, and not at all difficult.

Cons: Amusing candy-colored time-sink, not at all difficult, and if you're the sort of person who is good at matching and simply can't quit a game in the middle, it is possible for hours to pass by unnoticed.
