Great Anti-Virus September 6, 2009 M. Kramer 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this program for two months on three of our family computers, and not only does it work great, but it doesn't slow down your computer. Before I had norton anti-virus, which was pretty decent, but it slowed two of my computers down significantly. Then I decided to try this out and it runs fast and does not interrupt me or anyone else while we play games. Overall, this is a great buy and I plan on using eset for a long while.
excellent product September 17, 2009 R. Weilep (Washington State) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using this program for nearly a year, it is light on resources and does its job silently. Great product but a bit pricey..
Awesome features but pricey. August 12, 2009 Lester Ross (Gallipolis, OH) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I downloaded the free trial from eset and I love the balance of features and simplicity. This is one of the top rated security software products. I only have a problem with the cost. Maybe you get what you pay for, but you can buy direct from Eset and save shipping cost that amazon merchants are charging.
Horribly confusing firewall interface October 26, 2009 S. Bokat (Chevy Chase, MD United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought Eset Smart Security 4 from a bricks and mortar store store to avoid shipping delay. I selected this product because of many high ratings in various publications. I installed it on a Sunday. I mention this because when I ran into problems I learned that Eset only provides support Mon-Fri. I had no problem removing Trend Micro and installing the Eset product. However, Eset totally blocked internet access, including e mail (Outlook) and browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer 8). I then went to Eset's website on another computer and found instructions on their website for configuration changes to the firewall. I made those changes which allowed Firefox to reach the internet. However, after much trying I could not change the configuration to allow access by the other programs. I tried my failsafe, Google the problem, and found no solutions. I consider myself quite computer savvy, but found the firewall configuration impossible to comprehend. I studied the on line manuals and still couldn't figure out how to configure the firewall. In theory, the program is supposed to have a "learning mode" whereby it learns what programs are legitimate and allowed access. Despite setting it for learning mode, I had no luck. My fallback was to remove Eset and install the new, free, Microsoft Essentials. After doing this, I had no problems with any programs. If you want to use Eset, you might want to consider their antivirus program, and not the Security package.
Terrible customer service September 25, 2009 Janet K. (Tel Aviv, Israel) 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
ESET NOD32 3.0 Antivirus System - Windows DVD
We bought 4 full antivirus and malware packs from ESET. Two of our computers got infected by multiple viruses, yet the antivirus did not update itself. We were given lengthy instructions to do the update manually (THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN, WE DO NOT WORK FOR THE ANTIVIRUS).
We will not renew our licenses next year since we are disgusted by the terrible local customer service we received.
If an antvirus fails to protect, and an initial 2 emails with instructions (each consuming more than a couple of hours of OUR work) fail to correct the problem, then we are not interested and would not recommend this software.I would have expected better service from a company whose antivirus fails to protect!
